Welcome to Morocco
Welcome to Morocco! Your driver will be waiting for you at Marrakech Menara Airport. You will spend your first night enjoying your hotel/riad and acclimating to your new surroundings.
Boumalne Dades
Our journey together begins with pickup from your riad/hotel in Marrakech and departure towards Boumalne Dades, crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the Tichka Pass at 2,260 meters, an exceptional viewpoint to admire the panoramic mountain range around us. We will visit the famous Ksar of Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987 and the backdrop for many renowned films such as Gladiator, Alexander, Ali Baba, and Lawrence of Arabia. We will have lunch here and continue our route enjoying the historical monuments and natural beauty of the valleys in this region, including the Rose Valley. We will have dinner and spend the night in Boumalne.
Boumalne Dades – Merzouga via Todra Gorges
Our second day offers the opportunity to see many oases along the route, such as the TinjDades Oasis, the natural beauty of the Todra Gorges with cliffs up to 525 meters high and only 10 meters wide, and Berber villages such as Mellab, Touroug, etc. In Rissani, we will have lunch in the peaceful setting of the Ziz Valley oasis, surrounded by palm groves. We will soon reach the highest sand dunes in North Africa, the Erg Chebbi Dunes, about 20 km long and 5 km wide. In this unique and diverse environment near the village of Merzouga, we will begin our camel adventure towards a Berber camp in the middle of the dunes. In the evening, we will have dinner and enjoy the incomparable sounds of Berber drums around the campfire.
Merzouga: culture and tradition
We will wake up at the camp to an unforgettable sunrise. After breakfast with the locals at the camp, the camels will take us back to our driver, who will guide us through the Erg Chebbi Dunes and take us to nearby nomadic camps. During the day, we will have the opportunity to try Berber pizza and listen to Gnaoua music in the village of Khamlia. In the afternoon, we will visit the large traditional market in the town of Rissani, which supplies more than 365 villages in the Tafilalet region. We will return to the Erg Chebbi Dunes to enjoy the beauty of the sunset from the top of the highest dune in North Africa. We will spend the night having dinner at the hotel or riad.
Merzouga – Midelt – Ifrane – Fez
After breakfast, we will leave the arid desert landscapes behind and head towards the Atlas peaks to discover a completely different side of Morocco. We will pass countless oases, enter the volcanic Ziz Gorges, and see ksars (walled earth villages) and kasbahs, characteristic of southern Moroccan architecture. We will have lunch in the small town of Midelt and continue through the Middle Atlas mountain range and the vast cedar forests near the town of Ifrane. We will have dinner and spend the night in the remarkable city of Fez.
Fez Tour
We will spend this day in the old part of the city (Medina), accompanied by a local guide who will introduce us to the many unique monuments of Morocco’s first imperial city (Fez). Our visit begins at the gates of the Royal Palace, and as we walk through the labyrinthine streets of Fez, we will visit the Jewish Quarter and the oldest and most famous university in the region, Al-Qarawiyyin. We will also see the famous leather tanneries, where colors and smells flood our senses. During the day, you will have time to explore the city’s traditional market and experience life in the Medina. Before returning to the hotel, our driver will take us to a panoramic viewpoint over the Medina so you can take unforgettable memories and photos home.
Fez – Meknes – Rabat – Casablanca
Our route towards the imperial cities of Meknes and Rabat begins after breakfast. Founded in the 17th century by King Moulay Ismail, Meknes is famous for its massive 25-mile-long walls. We will visit the mausoleum of the city’s founder, the beautiful Bab Mansour Gate, and the Swani Basin. After lunch, we will travel to Morocco’s diplomatic and administrative capital, where we will visit the ancient ruins of Chellah, the Royal Palace, the ruins of the Hassan Mosque, and the Mausoleums of Mohammed V and Hassan II. We will continue to Casablanca, where we will have dinner and spend the night.
