Marrakech – Agdaz via Telouet and Aït Benhaddou
Our journey together begins with pickup from your riad/hotel in Marrakech and departure towards the stone desert. We will cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tichka Pass at 2,260 meters, an exceptional viewpoint to admire the panoramic mountain range around us. We will continue towards Aït Benhaddou, passing through Telouet and the Ounila Valley, where we will stop for lunch.
We will then visit the famous Ksar of Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987 and the backdrop for many renowned films such as Gladiator, Alexander, Ali Baba, and Lawrence of Arabia. We will continue towards Ouarzazate, crossing the Anti-Atlas Mountains towards the town of Agdz through the Draa Valley, where we will spend the night in our private oasis hotel surrounded by palm trees.
Ouarzazate – Cultural immersion in Ramlia – Erg Chebbi Dunes via Dakar Rally route
Tazarine, Alnif, and Tafraout are some of the key stops on our second day on the road. From Tafraout, we venture into what was part of the Dakar Rally route, enjoying the opportunity to drive off-road.
We will continue towards the Ramlia oasis, the village where our guide Mbarek was born. Here we will experience a true cultural immersion, having lunch with his family and enjoying a 100% Berber experience, before continuing our journey towards the highest dunes in North Africa: the Erg Chebbi Dunes, approximately 20 km long and 5 km wide.
In this unique and diverse environment near the village of Merzouga, we will begin our camel adventure towards a Berber camp in the middle of the dunes. In the evening, we will have dinner and enjoy the incomparable sounds of Berber drums around the campfire.
Merzouga: culture and tradition
We will wake up at the camp to an unforgettable sunrise. After breakfast with the locals, we will mount the camels, which will take us through the Erg Chebbi Dunes and bring us to nearby nomadic camps.
During the day, we will have the opportunity to try Berber pizza and listen to Gnaoua music in the village of Khamlia. In the afternoon, we will visit the large traditional market in the town of Rissani, which supplies more than 365 villages in the Tafilalet region.
We will return to the Erg Chebbi Dunes to enjoy the beauty of the sunset from the top of the highest dune in North Africa. We will spend the night having dinner at the hotel or riad.
Merzouga – Ouarzazate via Todra Gorges
Our fourth day begins with breakfast at the hotel and departure towards Ouarzazate. Before reaching the “Gateway to the Desert,” we will pass through Erfoud, the capital of dates and fossils, and continue towards the Todra Gorges, where we will have lunch.
In the afternoon, you will have free time to enjoy the natural beauty of these gorges, with cliffs reaching up to 525 meters high and only 10 meters wide. On the way to Ouarzazate, we will follow the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs and the Damascus Rose Valley, where we will make a short stop before continuing towards the Skoura Valley and finally reaching the hotel in Ouarzazate, where we will spend the night.
Ouarzazate – Marrakech
Before starting our return to Marrakech, we will visit the famous kasbah in Ouarzazate and its renowned film studios. We will then continue towards the “Red City,” crossing the impressive High Atlas Mountains and the Tichka Pass at 2,260 meters.
We will stop for lunch and enjoy the spectacular panoramic views before continuing to Marrakech, where we will spend our last night in Morocco.
